Whitby

The Historic Fishing Port of Whitby is now a popular holiday resort attracting visitors from all corners of the World. Whitby has recently been voted one of the most popular seaside resorts in the whole of Britain. It is unspoilt, bursting with character and quite unique and it has changed little since the days when the famous Captain James Cook lived and worked here.
Whitby is situated on the breath taking north east coast of England, has been one of its finest jewels for many hundreds of years. Whitby Abbey, founded in the seventh century makes Whitby instantly recognisable. Its ruins sit on the top of high cliffs which look down onto its picturesque harbour which can be reached by the famous 199 steps.
The dramatic ruins of the Whitby Abbey dominate the Eastern Headland and the 199 steps lead down to the narrow streets and alleyways of the old town. The bustling harbour is still a working port and cobbles can be hired for a spot of angling or enjoy the views of the coastline from one of the many pleasure crafts moored in the bay
Modern Whitby possesses a marvelous contrast for holiday makers. It has historic streets and old world charm as well as the usual amenities sought by today’s visitors. They include a varied selection of cafes and restaurants catering for all tastes.
Delight your senses on the local “catch of the day” from award-winning restaurants.
