The organisers of the Whitby Goth Weekend have produced cards for distribution at it’s 2012 events following a large influx of photographers. The cards serve as a polite request for respect from photographers and also serve as a warning to those considered to be acting in an inappropriate manner.

Whitby Abbey is now open daily from 10am until 6pm from 01 April 12 – 30 September 2012. Events have been planned over this period, watch our posts for details. Our B and B is an ideal place to stay whilst visiting.
THE route to be taken by the Olympic torch as it makes its way through the Whitby region has been announced.
On 18th June 2012 at approx 9.40am the torch will visit Whitby along the following route – Sandsend Road (from junction with Love Lane), Upgang Lane, Chubb Hill, Bagdale, Langbourne Road to Whitby Railway Station where the Olympic Flame will then be carried on a North Yorkshire Moors Railway train to Pickering.

Whitby celebrates all things Gothic in their biannual Whitby Goth Weekend,between 26 and 30 April 2012.
Main events are held at the Whitby Spa Pavilion but during the weekend many of the local hotels and pubs put on additional live music acts.
Thursday 26 April will feature the Sophie Lancaster Foundation meet up from 8pm- 2pm at RAW (Wellington Road) DJs there will play a mixture of dark alternative tunes.
The Main Event will take place Friday and Saturday night from 7pm at The Spa Pavilion.

Whitby is to hold a massive street party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Organised by local churches a clown, face-painting, refreshments and food have already been lined up.
The party is going to be at Dock End on Sunday 18 July, 1pm-5pm.

ACTOR Timothy Spall has been sailing down the east coast of the UK with wife Shane, filming the third series of his programme, Somewhere at Sea.
They spent a few days berthed in Whitby Harbour and visited lot’s of local attractions and discussed Bram Stoker having been presented with a cane from Bram Stoker’s great nephew.
The programme goes out on BBC Four on Tuesday 6th march at 8.30 pm.
Dionne Warwick, Wednesday 6 June, followed by Olly Murs on Sunday 15 July and JLS on Saturday 18 August.
All three will be bringing their spectacular full arena stage shows to the Open Air Theatre. More big acts are also being lined up to perform at the Open Air Theatre this year.
Tickets for the three confirmed acts will go on sale a week on Monday (12 March) through ticketmaster.co.uk. Further details of how people can buy tickets locally will be announced next week.
